Hi! I’m Alex
I’m a biologist (geneticist, I guess?) by training and I’ve been passionate about gene editing and therapies since ~2016, when my AP Biology teacher went on a random tangent about this thing called CRISPR. I didn’t really understand what it was at the time, but the Sci-Fi-ness of it all had me hooked, and I’ve been riding that curiosity-driven rush ever since.
I currently work for a longevity startup in Silicon Valley where we’re trying to develop gene therapies (ORF+AAV) for complex, polygenic, age-related diseases like HFpEF, Osteoarthritis, NASH & Pulmonary Fibrosis. My technical background is mostly in gene therapy/editing 🧬, in vivo models 🐭, molbio/sequencing and single cell biology.
I’m passionate about solving nuanced and difficult problems, and love thinking about science (of course), sci-comm, health, people, community, and a whole lot more.
Please reach out! I’d love to chat about your interests and what you’d like to read more about.
